Types of Virtualization in Cloud Computing
Virtualization in Cloud Computing:
In Cloud computing, Virtualization is a technology that used to make physical resources available as virtual resources. It also powers cloud computing services that help organizations manage infrastructure more efficiently.
Example: Servers/Compute, storage devices, networks, etc.
Types of Virtualization:
There are 4 different types of virtualization in cloud computing:
1. Data Center Virtualization:
Data centers consist of a wide variety of services that are offered through the Internet including SaaS, PaaS, Web Hosting, etc. The data center has various kinds of equipment to perform functions such as storing, managing, process, etc. It is like a simple cage or rack that consists of equipment. Data center owners generally large companies or government agencies. Virtualization of the available equipment in the data center, called data center virtualization.
In data center virtualization, cloud infrastructure resources kept as per the needs of a business. The resource can be computed, storage, bandwidth, and memory. It offers a single virtual idea from the front end such as applications and dashboards. It raises the speed of service delivery, acquires better profitability, and minimizes threats for new enterprises as well.
2. Server Virtualization:
Server virtualization hides the resources from users. It hides resources such as physical servers, operating systems used, processor details, etc. Server Manager, with the help of application software, detaches one physical server to other remote virtual resources. Sometimes, the virtual environment recognized as virtual private servers, containers, guests, etc.
3. Storage Virtualization:
Storage virtualization means grouping physical storage from numerous network storage devices, to perform like a single storage device. Cloud storage is also a frequently used term for storage virtualization. With the help of various management software, dispersed storage clusters, including multiple storage units. It can also work as a unit.
Data on cloud storage is integral and accessible by users all the time. If any part is not working accurately, there are multiple storage facilities to provide uninterrupted services to the cloud users. More disks can also be added to the cloud storage if required, at any time.
4. Sensor Virtualization:
In cloud computing, sensor virtualization means the virtualization of a physical sensor as a virtual sensor by sensor cloud infrastructure. To provide service to the user when required, virtualized sensors grouped dynamically. As physical sensor devices have restricted resources and perspectives, sensor management handles IT infrastructure on cloud computing. The sensor converts physical quantities into signals. Today, sensors have many application areas.
Physical sensors, which are in scattered form, are combined to create a group of sensors. and are used in various applications. Users are concerned only with the status of the virtual sensor. The users actually do not know about the physical sensors that virtualized and used by the concerned user. Sensor owners are not forced to register their wireless sensors. The wireless sensor network in association with the cloud provides quick responses to users. It also allows high-speed processing of data. Easy sharing of data and resources over cloud sensor infrastructure provides resource optimization.
