Difference between JPEG, GIF and PNG
JPEG
It stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group. It uses lossy compression algorithm that means some of the image data is lost. This image format used for online and printed images.
GIF
It stands for Graphics Interchange Format. It uses lossless compression algorithm. GIF is generally smaller in size and supports animation & transparency. This image format is the only way to create online animations without using Flash. GIF only supports 8-bit colors meaning you can only use 256 colors.
PNG
It stands for Portable Network Graphics. PNG is an image format that uses lossless compression, which means that it retains all the image data and quality without losing any details when compressed. It supports transparency, which makes it ideal for images like logos, icons, or graphics that require clear backgrounds.
